From September 26, travelers departing from Milan can travel directly to Xi’An, the ancient Chinese city, thanks to direct flights offered by China Eastern Airlines.
Xi’An, the historical capital of the Chinese Empire and the starting point of the famous Silk Road, is one of the world’s most historically rich tourist destinations, with a cultural heritage of roughly 3,100 years.
Among the main attractions is the Terracotta Army, a unique testimony to the city’s glorious past.
However, Xi’An is also a modern metropolis of about 13 million people and the capital of Shaanxi Province.
Visitors can admire traditional Chinese works of art and architecture, such as the Clock Tower, the City Wall, the Great and Small Wild Goose pagodas, the Daming Palace National Heritage Park, and the Mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang.
The three weekly flights from Milan make Xi’An more accessible than ever, allowing travelers to explore a city with UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
The design of this new air link, which Istituto Italo Cinese promoted and supported starting in July 2023 by organizing a meeting at Palazzo Pirelli with Xi’an representatives and Lombardy and airport authorities, represents a significant step in bringing the cultures of Italy and China closer together.
