Chinese New Year 2025 Concert of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Milan

On the evening of January 29, on the occasion of the Chinese New Year celebrations and the arrival of the Year of the Snake, the Chinese New Year Concert, organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Milan, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and the China Musicians Association (CMA), together with our Istituto Italo Cinese, was held in the splendid setting of the Teatro Carcano in Milan.

The event was opened by institutional greetings and New Year greetings from the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Milan Liu Kan, CFLAC Vice President Li Yi, the President of the Istituto Italo Cinese Maria Rosa Azzolina, and the President of the Regional Council of Lombardy Federico Romani.

The protagonist of the evening was an ensemble of about 25 Chinese musicians, all honored with the prestigious Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, who enchanted the audience of about 1,000 people with an evocative instrumental concert. On stage, traditional Chinese instruments such as the erhu, suona, pipa, guzheng and jinghu gave life to evocative melodies, transporting the audience on a musical journey through China’s millennia-old culture.

Further enriching the performance was the presence of both Italian and Chinese opera singers, whose repertoire intertwined the great Italian opera tradition with celebrated pieces of classical Chinese music. This meeting of two musical worlds represented a cultural bridge between East and West, celebrating the harmony between the two artistic traditions.

The evening ended with warm applause from the audience, marking an event dedicated to music and sharing. With this concert, Milan paid tribute to the Chinese New Year, wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Year of the Snake!
