1000 Miglia Experience China: 9-17 November 2024

The memorable 1000 Miglia classic car race has come to China for the first time! The 1000 Miglia Experience China initiative began last November 9 and will enliven the Guangdong region until November 17.

The program, which will take place in the southern area of Guangdong province, is structured into two main moments: the classic car exhibition from November 9 to 12 at the Guangzhou
International Grand City (IGC) and the famous race that will run through the area from November 14 to 17.

The stars of the four-day exhibition in Guangzhou are undoubtedly the classic cars, but the days will also involve guests and visitors in a series of cultural activities. The 1000 Miglia is not just a car race, but a 360-degree, unique and unrepeatable experience, historical and cultural testimony to the evolution of Italian automotive engineering, design and lifestyle.

Below are some photos of the exhibition that opened in Guangdong on November 9:

The historic car race is the highlight of the Experience and involves about 100 classic cars, carefully selected especially for this route and from dedicated museums, private collections or amateur enthusiasts. The more than 200 drivers from all over the world gathered in Guangdong to embark on a 4-day journey through 11 cities in the fascinating Greater Bay Area: from bustling Guangzhou to romantic Zhuhai, from historic Foshan to vibrant Shenzhen, for a total route that exceeds 1,000 kilometers.

The race ended on November 17 in the afternoon: after a 4-stage route, the cars returned to Guangzhou, the starting city and final finish line of the competition, with the previous 3 finish lines in Yangjiang, Zhuhai and Shenzhen.

Below are a few shots of the race, with the cars driving through the province’s picturesque roads on China’s southern coast:

The event is organized by the Federation of Classic Car China (FCCC), with the support of the Chinese government and the Italian partner, and the contribution of the Italian and Chinese entities that have entered into agreements with the FCCC on the occasion of an event of enormous cultural and social significance. In fact, not only entities dedicated to vintage vehicles, such as the Automobile Club d’Italia and ACI Storico, but also the main institutions of culture and international cooperation, such as our Istituto Italo Cinese, have been involved.

The closing ceremony of China’s first 1000 Miglia race was held on Sunday evening, November 17, in Guangzohu.

In addition to awarding the winners of the race, who were thus guaranteed admission to the 1000 Miglia 2025, the final event was an opportunity to thank all the participants, sponsors, promoters and all the organizations and people who worked to make this long-awaited edition in China a reality.

Speeches included that of the President of the Istituto Italo Cinese, Maria Rosa Azzolina. From the very beginning, our Institute believed in the enormous cultural, as well as sporting, importance of the debut of a race like the 1000 Miglia in China, fostering dialogue between the Italian and Chinese actors involved and meetings both in Italy and China, offering its contribution on various fronts to ensure the success of the initiative.

The 1000 Miglia Experience China is a project of great importance especially for its symbolic value.

In this edition, the Istituto Italo Cinese recognized in the objective of the Experience the values at the basis of its own birth and mission: to build a bridge between Italy and China, tracing the new path of a historic Italian car race towards a territory rich in stimuli, innovations and inspirations such as China. That is why it has worked enthusiastically to offer its contribution and maximum support to the success of every detail of the initiative.

While the typical Italian charm of the competition will be enriched by new and unprecedented stimuli, it will also allow the Chinese population to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the “most beautiful car race in the world”.
