Teatro alla Scala on Tour with Le Corsaire and Giselle

The Tour in China of the Ballet of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan is a well-established tradition: China welcomes the ballet shows of the Milanese theater with great success and growing enthusiasm year after year.

The Istituto Italo Cinese is happy to share and support this initiative: theatre, like music and all art, is among the most powerful vehicles for bringing people together and promoting friendship, exchange and mutual enrichment.

This year, the La Scala dancers will be on stage in March in Hong Kong and Shanghai: these cities represent two of the most eagerly awaited stages by the public and critics.

Le Corsaire at the Hong Kong Grand Theatre

This year the La Scala dancers will perform “Le Corsaire” in Hong Kong and “Giselle” in Shanghai. Both shows are directed by Manuel Legris.
In Hong Kong the show is hosted at the Grand Theater of the Hong Kong Cultural Center from 15 to 17 March 2024, on the occasion of the 52nd edition of the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

The ballet in three acts is presented in the innovative version signed by Manuel Legris: the show reveals the choreographic approach and the musical and dramaturgical research work.
The nineteenth-century ballet Le Corsaire appears more accessible and clear in this version. There is a particular attention to the music and the relationship between the characters compared to the original version. The dancers of La Scala perform virtuosity and adventurous and energetic steps.
